We woke up reasonably early so that we could open our presents. With that done, it was time for breakfast. Another overfilling meal for breakfast. We lazed around the lodge for a while, enjoying the sunshine and bright blue skies. We decided to have another go at viewing Old Faithful (which erupts roughly every 90 minutes. Of course, as we proceeded over to the visitor centre, the sky started to cloud over again. These things happen in the mountains. The visitor centre has a very good educational display which we spent some time investigating. We visited the visitor centre gift store and I stocked up on educational resources for school. We went out to Old Faithful and this time the conditions were much more suitable for viewing geysers. After all the exertion it was time to go back to the room for a rest. We are both finding it difficult to do any strenuous (or even none strenuous activity - with an elevation of 8000 feet (2 1/2 km) the air is so thin that we get puffed just walking to and from the room. The restaurant was putting on a traditional Christmas Dinner, including roast turkey, mashed potatoes etc, and pumpkin pie. We had some celebratory drinks and had to take the pumpkin pie back to the room with us. (Our waitress said she was bringing it out for us whether we wanted it or not). In the end, we were far too full to eat it anyway. We certainly got our white Christmas.
