It is hard to believe this is our last travelogue and then we will be back in Ont. at Easter. What an amazing 10 months! We had a fun visit with our nephew Matt in New Mexico and then headed over to San Antono (Texas) and the Alamo. There is very little left standing but we found it fascinating. We drove over to the Gulf Coast (Corpus Christi) and meandered along through Texas to Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. The devestation from the hurricanes was unbelievable - whole towns were completely gone and destruction everywhere. We went through New Orleans (crazy as it was Mardi Gras weekend!) and saw so much of the disaster still there. Most of the state parks were closed or full with Disaster Relief workers so we arrived in Florida earlier than expected (had a fabulous week right on the gulf). Then we hit Hilton Head! A beautiful resort, great friends (we were with the Sloans and met the Desjardins one night!), great weather, and LOTS of laughs. We were able to ride our bike on the beach (for 12 miles), it is just better to do it at low tide and try to not fall off. Teehee. We did some crazy St. Patrick's Day celebrating both at Hilton Head and in Savannah at the River St. celebrations (now that is a story in itself!). Right now we are outside Bradenton Fla. with my parents and maxing out our VISA card! We will have a few days in Myrtle Beach, a visit with Barry's sister in Albany and on to Kingston/Belleville for a few days. It will be so exciting to see you all again very soon. So I was reading through your entry and I think you made a mistake. You forgot to mention that you were stopping in Louisville Kentucky!!!! I mean you will be driving through Kentucky you might as well make one last stop!!
