San Diego is indeed the nation's finest city as it's the only one I've seen free Wi-Fi access. So as I count down the minutes to departure I can also share some of next week's crazy adventures in Costa Rica. However, before that can happen I have to dodge some logistic hurdles already. As I started writing an US Airways rep asked all pasengers connecting to an international destination to go to the counter, where I was just informed I'll need proof of return to the US and "sufficient" funds before boarding my connecting flight from Charlotte to San Jose and apparently my AA itinerary via my iPod doesn't pass muster. Jeez hasn't Costa Rica entered the 21st century yet :) ...well luckily I have a short 5-1/2 hour layover to sort this fun stuff out. Anyway, by tomorrow at 5pm I should be at the hostel and meeting up with my sidekick otherwise known as Curt "Hootergirls"...UCSD professor by day and...hmmm... Jungle canopy swinger by night. We plan to get up before the crack of dawn (what exactly "cracks" I don't know) and get on a bus to Volcan Arenal, which is either a Star Trek convention or one of the most active volcanos in the world. Well we're leaving soon on a just announced oversold plane going into a stormy Charlotte that requires storing extra fuel as we spriral 30k feet in the air. Wish me luck! Cheers, Tico Barry
