14/05/07 - Lazy morning - cleaning the inside of the RV, laundry, where to play today and breakfast at Denny's. Bought myself a new set of irons @ Roger Dunn's, all with blue Grafalloy shafts (really gay!) and all for less than a round of golf @ "Pebble". (Not sure whether that makes the clubs cheap or the round of golf expensive?) I chose a good time to visit the US with the exchange rate as it is, but unfortunately I can't come back here until June 14th 2008. (90 day US immigration rule for UK citizen).
Arrived at Trilogy GC @ 2.00pm (home of the "LG Skins game") and took advantage of the $35 "Super Twilight" rate. You just can't beat 18 for a Championship golf course, all the range balls you can hit, unlimited golf, exercising in the desert and baking in the sun! I'm really enjoying my mid-life crisis!

15/05/07 -
Another breakfast @ Denny's, followed by Internet updating. (The site I'm on is cheap but it doesn't have Wi-Fi, so I have to use the local "Comfort Inn" unsecured network from their car park; Denny's is just across the road) I've got into this routine now, where I update my daily journal in "Word" and then, to save internet time (coz it's not a reliable connection) I cut and paste into my blog when I'm on-line. Boring but true.
So I decided to go to Desert Dunes GC which I last played on 30th April. I remember liking it coz it's one of the few courses not surrounded by houses. Unfortunately this time the greens were over-seeded and not very playable.
Another unfortunate incident was that I was partnered with Dave; who must have been one of the worst golfer's I had ever seen (I'm not exaggerating). He consistently played several balls on every tee, on every fairway and on every green. He didn't know the rules or etiquette. (I mean, who walks in and out of a bunker without even looking for the rake?) It was enough to test any man's patience. It was one of those rare occasions where I just had to smile to myself, and be content with another man's incompetence.
He told me he was a retired commercial pilot, who now works on cruise ships teaching wealthy single women how to dance by night and scuba dives by day. He had just returned from a month's spell on the Queen Mary.
He pointed out the mountain, which was the scene where Frank Sinatra's mother was killed in a plane crash. He also told me that he used to be Lee Trevino's chauffeur, when the "Tour" stopped off in Palm Springs.
I guess he was in his 60's, had pearly white teeth with hair to match, stood 6 ft tall, reasonably handsome with a dark bronzed tan, full of BS, understandably single and had enough character to justify an entry into my "blog of shame"!
