22/04/07 - Lake Havasu City - The town itself is a little bit basic. As an example, most of the houses are mobile homes (i.e. static caravans to us Brits, except without the wheels and made of wood). They have no gardens and share zip codes with the local storage companies. There's no architecture to speak of nor are there any trees or foliage. I believe it is a second home (holiday home) and very seasonal. It was really quiet.
But the Lake is the real focal point, made up from the deep blue waters of the Colorado. The town's, trade and income, being derived from the recreational activities of fishing, boating and other water sports. It is also the home of the infamous "London Bridge", which also provides some tourist income.

But for me, all this provides just a supporting role as a magnificent backdrop to the beautiful golf course called "The Refuge" which by the way has one of the best clubhouses I've been in for a long time, serving "real" beefburgers! The course was pristine (apart from the bunkers; the sand was a bit crusty) and there was only me on it! The houses dotted about the course can only be described as "celebrity price tag". I felt very comfortable here and with hindsight should have stayed longer.

23/04/07 - Parker, AZ - The drive from Havasu to Parker is only 40 miles south, alongside the Colorado River with many resorts along the way; a really nice peace of country. There is something quite special about sun, mountains, deserts, clear blue rivers and palm trees - all in one place!
Just my luck! I found a golf course just this side of Parker called Emerald Canyon. Joined up with Jim (boy! did he talk some crap!), Frank and Big Ron from Arkansas - none of them could really play the game but they did provide some reasonable company for 5 hours!

Ended up in Yuma, AZ (which is the last place south before Mexico) after a couple of hours (100 miles) driving on the flattest, straightest and most uninhabited road yet, through the southern region of the Mojave Desert. Camped at a really noisy place, "Planes, Trains and Automobiles" - no internet, (Pay?  - YUMAst be Joking!)
