As we packed to leave Monterey, I noticed an RV pull up to the dump station.  I have had some anxiety about performing this procedure.  My new friend said that I could watch.  He then told me that for some reason people seem to congregate around the dump station; and in particular around the dump hole.  He also advised me that I should not be standing in the shallow sink containing the dump hole as that is where any spillage would be contained.  I did as he suggested and wiped my shoes on the nearby grass.    The guy's wife appeared and asked if I had any rubber gloves.  My wild-eyed stare told her No.  She reappeared later and gave me a handful.  The process made sense.  Connect the hose to the RV.  Put the other end in the hole and use the heavy bar to hold it down... just in case.

Finally it was our turn.  I had Travis and Kathryn assist.  They positioned the rig perfectly on the third try.  We dug out the hose and placed it on the RV.  The other end went into the hole.  The hole cover seemed to hold the hose securely so I didn't put the heavy bar over the hose.  I had to go to the other side of the rig to pull the black water "poop" hose.  As soon as I did it was like Niagara Falls!  The force of the sludge was amazing.  As I looked under the rig across to the hole I was mortified as I saw the hose buckle under the weight as it tried to make its way over the parapit.  I ran over and lifted the hose.  I envisoned a toxic waste spill that would have made Love Canal seem like a picnic.  We emptied the gray water and cleaned the hose.  Piece of cake! We connected the Pod and made our way to the Elks Lodge at South San Francisco.
