Carmel and Beyond

Drove down the coast in record high temperatures (hit 90).  top down.
through Big Sur with a stop for coffee in a bus.







then saw the elephant seals trying to cool themselves on the beach. 








saw hard core travelers carrying tents and camping gear on their motorcycles, bicycles and even a few who were walking in the heat carrying everything on their backs.






 Stopped in the hamlet of Gorda, where we were immediately greeted by 20% of the population (Brian and another guy).  Best gas station toilets I've ever seen.





We watched the enormous school of dolphins in the area and said hello to the Lama and goats, watched the
hummingbirds, fueled up on cliff bars and then jumped back in the car.
A very pleasant and uneventful trip down the coast.  We even stopped at Andersen's for Pea Soup.

Got to Joanna's house tired and had a lovely evening with Julia Rubiner and Simon GLickman, who brought us wine.  Woke up the next morning with a terrible cold. :(
