NEW ZEALAND: Stop number 2 on my journey around the world. the land of the lord of the rings. One of undistrubed coastlines, rough interior, glacial peaks forming what is considerd the most beautiful country in the world. And Im here, right in the eppicenter of the most geographically isolated country on the planet, and i could not be more excited.

i have heard so much about the New Zealand and its people to where, as much as i didnt want to leave Australia, I really desired to experience it all first hand and see for my self if it lives up to its rather high reputation. So far so good.

It was a nightmare getting here. First i sat on a plane for 4 hours from cairns to sydney. than i sat and slept in the sydney airport for over 24 hours, with very little or no sleep. Than they didn't have my visa, and basically talked my way onto the plane hoping to figure it out in customs on this end. Get here, and that was no problem. I sleep walk over to quarentine only to get pulled aside by the guard who overheard me telling him that i was staying for 6 months with only my usually small rucksack. being a little suspicious, the guard insisted on unpacking it and searching all of my belongings for whatever he thought i should have carried with me for a 6 month stay here in NZ. I always thought that airport security would like people who travelled light. never thought it would be a problem. Well, it hadn't until now. i had already gone three months in Australia with it, whats another six?

He was satisfied after rumaging through my bag, i guess he had to see it to believe it. Now my bag isn't THAT small, but its dwarfed in comparison to other backpackers overloaded monstrocities. I just have the basic neccesities...anyways, im here now, i wasn't gonna let another hour of my time wasted get me down. after all, i had adopted this "no worries" policy that was goin around in OZ.  Found my ride into the city of christshurch itself. The weather is bit cooler than im used to, and by that, i mean its around 65 degrees. It is as green as the pictures, and there are as many sheep as..well...i think they outnumber just about everything here, even people.

For the next little bit (maybe through the holidays) im staying with some family relatives in Rangiora, not 20 minutes from Christchurch. I'll probably just sit back and prop my feet up for some time. It'll be nice break from the last three months of the wayward travelling. They're great people, loads of fun..so im looking forward to spending some time and enjoying the holidays in a different way this year. If i dont hear from you before then guys, Merry Christmas, see you next year!

Welcome to Paradise!
David, I hope you love 'The Land of the Long White Cloud' as much as I do; it truly is a magical place and the people are wonderful (hey my family lives there so they gotta be pretty special!)

Have a fantastic time.
