Okay.  I broke down and decided to do a bus tour afterall. I had mixed feelngs about it as we were tired of so much walking, but it is difficult to avoid in DC.  Even if you take the metro, you still have to walk to it.  Still, spending money for this seems totally unnecessary.  The tour was suggested by our Hotel and I chose it as they said they'd pick us up and return us at our door which is appealing at this point.  The tour was given by the busdriver and when he made stops, he didn't get off the bus and lead the group as in the trip I took last year.  The Capital consisted of driving into the parking lot, being inspected by security and turning around.  The White House was a bust as The President flew in and we couldn't see the White House as the path was blocked.  When we got to The Arlington Cemetary I asked the driver to drop us off and we'd take the metro back which turned out to be a good decision.  We saw the Eternal Flame of JFK, next to that was the burial site of Bobby Kennedy, and to the left of him - Teddy.  I've heard JFK was on that spot just weeks before his death and thought it was the prettiest spot in DC. Seeing the Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unkown Soldier was cool.  Watching a man walk 21 steps, stopping 21 seconds, and doing it again 24/7 is hard to fathom - day, night, rain, or shine.  Due to our new knowledge of DNA the Unkown Soldier is no longer unknow  - I think his name is Michael.

Dinner at Old Ebbit's Grill. Don't let location fool you.  Next to the White House and the prices were good with lots of ambience. .  I had the infamous crab cakes - yum! The kids menu with drink and dessert cost $6  We paid almost that for a street hot dog.
