Wow, what a morning...2:52 am our car alarm went off...Sarge went out and looked not sure what happened, but it met for a very early morning. We left Yuma around 9:00 am...very windy and cold. We entered California in about 15 miles. The first thing we went through was the Imperial Valley sand dunes. Really felt like the desert sand dunes everywhere. Then we go through an agriculture check point. Sarge lied to the officer, he told him we only had apples on board...he forgot to mention all the other produce! Another border checkpoint also, this guy asked, "Are you both US citizens? Do you have any drugs or people hiding in the back?" What do you say!!!! We experienced the wildest weather after entering California...wind and sand blowing, then cold and rain, then cold and snow, then wind and rain, then fog in the mountains with no guard rails...this is all 43 miles from San Diego. Whatever happened to it never rains in Southern California...they lie!!!! It rained all day! When we got out of the mountains we went into a 5 lane both ways freeway! Thats 10 lanes of highway...in all a very stressful day of driving. But we made it here we are in Oceanside and even got to put our feet in the Pacific. Coast to coast we made it! Dave and Lauren came over and we went to dinner down a few miles into the area they live....Carlsbad...great food and great company. So happy we will get to spend some time with them over the next few days!
