The schedule was a little bit crazy because of the half day so I only had a little bit of time to teach my lesson. I ended up getting it all in with a little bit of time left over, so I started attempting to learn my students name's. I went around and had them write their name down in my notebook. So hopefully I can try and practice saying them (and give them some entertainment!) Overall, today went really well and I am enjoying getting closer to my students J
After the first break, the students get cleaning assignments to clean the school and the village. It was really cool to see them all hard at work taking care of their school and their community. Definitely another lesson we can learn from them too! Just a very cool experience to see.
We then got picked up to get taken home. We all decided to go for a swim and study our Swahili for our Swahili quiz we had later that day. Then we went to class and took the quiz, I think I did pretty well! ;) Then it was my and my roommate Lauren’s turn to teach the rest of the group the new Swahili words. We taught them some useful phrases to use in the classroom and some body parts. We then taught them head shoulders knees and toes in Swahili! It was pretty funny to watch/sing!
After this, we had dinner and then it was nice to have a night to just hang out as a group without doing school work! We all just hung out with each other before going to bed, because we have to get up early tomorrow to go on our excursion which I am very excited for! I’m sure I will have plenty of stories from it.
Hope all is going well in the states! Also shout out to Purdue Crew Team as they race in Philly at Vails today!! BOILER UP!!!!
LOVE YOU ALL
