The original plan was to take the bus from Charlottetown to Amherst, rent a car there & drive about for a few hours  prior to the train’s departure late in the afternoon.  However,  the thought of getting up at 5:30 to catch the bus & carrying a boxed breakfast plus going through the hassle of taking a taxi to the bus depot & dealing with luggage on and off the bus as well as in and out of another rental car just did not seem all that appealing so we chose to pay the drop-off fee and the bridge toll and keep our little red Dodge an extra day.

Had another delicious breakfast, packed up and drove across the Confederation Bridge and on to Amherst where we had lunch at the most popular joint in town - Tim Horton’s.  Took a few pics and carried on to Moncton.

Boarded the train and almost immediately were called to the dining room. The obligatory game of scrabble and then I assembled the beds and we crawled in for a rockin’ and rollin’ night.  Surely cramped quarters but it still beats overnight airline flights.

Funny how these compartments didn't seem so cramped when Barry & I made the trip from Moncton to Quebec City.
