One of the things on my must-do-list was to see the Rocky Mountains and to go to Vancouver. Therefore I was now in Red Deer, about an hour south of Edmonton. Carmella was settling in her home and I had a new travel companion for the road trip ahead, Aaron.

It took us a while to get packed and get out of the door. When we were in the car and finally on the way, we were ecstatic to be on our way to a new adventure. We took the road from Rocky Mtn.House to Lake Louise. It took a little while before the mountains were visible, but suddenly the majestic peaks were quite clear in the horizon ahead of us.

Even though the sun was setting we still got a good look at the snow clad peaks before it got completely dark. As far as the eye could see, mountains kept popping up out of nowhere it seemed. When we reached Lake Louise it was pitch black, but the main road to Banff was piece of cake.

Locating the hostel in Banff however, first appeared to be easy, but then the signing stopped, as we entered the area with various accommodations. They might have run out of road signs, when they came to that road...
We had decided to take everything on this road trip as it comes, so we hadn't booked ahead, turned out it they had room, so my worries was for nothing.

The cold wind was blowing through our layers of clothes as we walked around Banff that evening. It didn't take long to walk around the centre, but our legs enjoyed to be stretched for a bit. It was nice to get some fresh air, but it was getting a bit too fresh after our opinions, so we searched indoors and sat in front of a fireplace. I couldn't wait to see what this place would look like after a good nights sleep.
