So yeah, er..........I'm in Suva.

I'm still on one of the main islands (Viti Levi). The trip back from Mana Island was another bumpy water affair. My legs are still tender from my last ride. Simon, Thorsten and I ended up getting a room in a hostel on the beach in Nadi, instead of arriving at Suva at 11 at night. The next morning, the lady tried to charge us an extra days cash, 'cause we checked out late, although none of us were aware of the check out time. Fiji time doesn't seem to exist here, but everywhere else embraces it, including the 'NEVER on time' buses. (Fiji time = Whenever we get round to it = Terry time ha ha ha) Thorsten was having none of it, so she backed down. I was just about to open my can of whoop ass as well. Dammit.

So we get into Nadi and manage to blag a lift in some dudes mini van, CHEAPER than getting the local bus to Suva. He obviously needed the cash. And in half the time. The journey was pretty cool, with the driver doing warp 10 all the way there. The main road pretty much hugs the coastline all the way around the island. We were driving through plush fields and hills, where its pretty much green as far as you can see. Fiji's main source of income seems to be Sugar Cane as there are sugar cane fields EVERYWHERE. Kava was also big up until a few years ago for its medicinal qualities (counters depression and anxiety), but the world thought it to be a narcotic after some Germans reacted badly to it, so it is illegal outside of Fiji. The Germans were later found to be on all kinds of drugs, so it made the conclusion void, but the ban still exists. And its not alcoholic as I had said before. Its like being stoned without the side effects (er....so I have heard)

We drove through Sigatoka and past the coral coast (it didn't look all that) and nearly 3 hrs later, we are in Suva.

We are currently holed up in another hostel for a few nights. Saw Resident Evil : Apocolyse for F$5 which is about 1.70. Can you imagine going to the cinema for that much? I'd never leave. Saw Alien vs Predator again also. Suva town is quite big (should be being the capital). There are a lot of Indo Fijians here (er....people originally from India I'm guessing here, so from pictures I have seen, it reminds me a lot of India. I have wandered around the town. Its quite cool, but still a little '3rd world', but I like it. Everyone here is trying to sell Weed and it was the same in Nadi. Why don't they just smoke it themselves. Been there, done that, got bored.

Did some trekking through the Fijian rainforest (they have a rain forest) about 7 miles out from Suva with Simon, Throsten and Ulrike (who has just met up with us again). Just walking through the woods, was cool enough, but finding stepping stones across rivers, bathing pools in the river AND a lagoon WITH A SWING ROPE(yeah, I was well impressed) was just awesome. So I spent ages swinging, doing Tarzan impressions, dropping into the water.......on my back, ...on my head, .....on my face. I was hurting afterwards, but it was all cool. I don't know how I did it, but my bank card also decided to split at some point during this tom foolery, but still works in the cash machine.....which is good, seeing as my re-ordered credit card never turned up.

All the Germans are off tomorrow. The guys to LA and Ulrike to New Zealand, so I'm on my todd again. Oh well. Looking to go to Tavenui tomorrow for a few days. I've also been told that I should try for my drivers license whilst I am there. Guess it will be easier to pass here than in UK.

Anyway, that's all for now. Still looking to get some pictures up. Everyone has to see the 'freak lizard dog' from Mana Island. Its pure genius.

Adios
