Yesterday, I had breakfast in some diner somewhere on my way downtown. The guy sitting in front of me was William Atherton. He was the bad dude in Ghostbusters, but has also been in Die Hard and recently "The last Samurai" Stick his name in google and have a look. You all know who he is. Serious!! Apart from that, i just wandered south of Manhatten. Unfortunately, my feet have taken a bit of a pasting recently and decided to konk out on me whilst in a MASSIVE bookstore. Couldn't even move, let alone walk back. Spent the rest of the evening chillin, letting feet recover and had a early night.
Today is Indenpendance Day. My first one!! I had an e-mail of Caroline (who is still trading thin water after the death list) last night saying that she had a "Super American" Day planned, so be up for 10. We're off to Coney Island. Cool. Met her friend Julie and boyfriend Anthony, who were both very cool. Chatted about random rubbish on the subway before getting to Coney Isle. We had come here to watch the Worlds Hot Dog Eating Championship. The guy that won ate 53 in 12 mins. Shit, that's a lot. Couldn't really see much as the crowds were pushing out into the streets. Crazy, but it was kinda cool. The guy that won, he is reigning chap 4yrs in a row now. He got carried into the tournament in a giant hot dog. ha ha. Rockin'
Afterwards we all caught the ferry to Statton Island, which passes close to the Statue of Liberty without paying to go on the Ellis island ferry. Good for photo's. Had lunch in some cafe, observing a Jekyll and Hide restaurant opposite us. Looked really good, think it was a theme restaurant. Looked like Hyde and won the battle on the decor though. Jekyll certainly wasn't hyding ha ha get it? er......i'll get my coat.
Sent the rest of the evening at Carolines flat in Brooklyn watching Eddie Izzard and Bill & Teds movies, listening to tunes and being attacked by her cat and parrot (actually they're her flatmate Becca's).
Seeing as it was 4th July, we went onto the roof, watching the fireworks display go off across Southern Manhatten. it was pretty cool, despite being 5 floors up and the wind blowing. Still, it was cool being on the roof. Not really practical in my house back home. And after my near death experience, I was alitle wary of being up high. It was cool though, wicked to watch. The bangers that were going of round the neighbourhood, sounded like gunfire. It was gonna be fun walking home.
Hope this is all cool for people reading this thing. I'm hoping to get photos up at some point.
