Jeff here;
Okay, the journey has started.  Left Houston with no issues, enjoyed the coziness of Biz Class all the way and saw Tamara get served the biggest steak Iīve seen in a long time.  When the flight attendant put that down in front of her, we both just looked at IT, then each other - and laughed.
In the middle of the night, I got up to "go", and after standing there waiting for a minute I noticed the "closed" sign taped over the door to the toilet.  I didnīt think anything of it, then went to another one.  After we landed the guy on the speaker says donīt get up when we get to the gate, because the plane is going to be met by a medical crew.  Just thought it was a local thing in Brazil these days, but no.
Three medical folks dressed in white clothes, rubber gloves and some equipment march up the aisle to the family sitting RIGHT NEXT TO US AND IN FRONT OF US!!  We could hear them discussing that two of their children had been sick during the flight in the toilets that were sealed closed.  Eventually someone on the speaker system explained this to everyone, then gave us the warning that if anyone became sick in the next several hours we were to call a phone number they gave us.  Oh, no one was wearing masks, they didn't cart anyone off and it seemed like it ended "well".
Okay, we had every shot in the book in preparation for this trip (including regular flu and H1N1 flu), but did we need to have this experience before we even land from the first flight - and on a huge 767 with probably 300 people, the sick one's had to be sitting within 10 freaking feet of us!?!?
That's all I've got for this one.  We're in Rio waiting for our room, looking over the famous Copa beach, it's sunny and 85 degrees.  May need a beer soon to wash away the flight germs.  Cross your fingers.
