I miss sliding cars around

Recently in some of my classes I showed a movie called "Star" made by BMW (you can look it up on Youtube. It's worth it). Basically, it's about a Diva who is completely conceited and a brat. She ends up not taking her normal limo, but in turn gets in a different car. Normally everyone kisses the Diva's ass, but not this guy. After a few pleasantries are exchanged the driver then begins to just have fun with the car, slide it around and just drive like a madman. I miss this.
This past weekend some of the foreigners went to the local kart track. I'd been to this track before and did want to drive it. When I went to it, though, it was for a rock concert. I still walked the track and got an idea on how to drive it. That was October. When I got to the track I realized that I still actually had the track memorized and that the line I originally picked out way back when was actually pretty good. The karts were a little more powerful than normal ones. They were speed limited (and not all the same), but they had pretty good chassis that allowed a certain amount of flex and tire lift. I'm much better with cars than karts (and this reminded me of it), but it was so incredibly refreshing to go ahead and step into a vehicle with good grippy race tires and flog it around.
However, it was done in the typical foreigner in China kind of way. Lots of drinking and beer involved. No one got too drunk, but there were some silly and dangerous situations. By the end I was picking my laps carefully so that I was not going around with anyone who had been drinking excessively.
Earlier that morning I got up early and went to the Yellow River with a friend. We wanted to go and see the sun rise, but as you can see from the photos there wasn't much to see. This is pretty normal in China. Sunrise and sunset is usually just an orange ball with a lot of grey. Only occasionally will you see a real one here. So sad. Not much time left till I can see a real one.

Sliding around in the car was a lot of fun. Are you going to try it in Ted's Corvette? I'd like to do that.
