All of which I'm using now. I'm wrapped in the duvet, drinking hot tea and trying to figure out how the remote to the heater works. If I press this button, the directional vanes move slightly - it's a start.
Today I've got to get over all jet lag issues, travel to Dongguan and get ready for the first day of training tomorrow. I also have to navigate a world where everything is Chinese. The desk calendar features an attractive young woman on a bicycle - this is 'good' Chinese. The heater remote flashes differently in response to the same command - this is 'bad' Chinese.
So I hop over to the window and take a picture of the scene below:
And now there's a knock on the door. Kind of early for Kai, so I hop over to the door and open it.
There's a young woman standing there in a McDonald's uniform, holding a plastic bag. She smiles quickly at the strange man wrapped in a floral blanket with a camera in his hand, then quickly hands me the bag and dashes off down the hall.
In the bag is a styrofoam bowl filled with noodles, broccoli and chunks of meat. Two clear bags filled with mystery red and green fluids, another packet of dried stuff. And chopsticks. I'll pass on the sauces, but sit on the floor, wrapped in my duvet and enjoy the noodles.
Below the construction workers are blowing whistles and throwing rebar around. Horns honk and Sunday begins.
