Having been to the BurDubai/ Diera sides (old Dubai) and to the Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall sides(new Dubai), so what else to explore? Theres a lot more actually.

We rented a taxi for the day costing about AED300. That's much cheaper then having to engage a tour package or a special arranged city tour with a guide for the 5 of us. We didn't opt for the Big Bus Tour as we wanted a private tour just for the family.( like what we did in Beijing). Unlike Beijing, which we sourced directly from the internet, most taxi drivers in Dubai are salaried drivers of corporations and there are very few freelancers. By the way, dont call the taxi company to book for a whole day ( 6+hours) as it will cost you more, about AED500 per day. Just direct nego with the taxi driver. Well if you have time, the trick in Dubai is to spend your initial days trying out several taxi drivers, chat with them and see who is best to strike a deal in getting you around town. I personally selected one that speaks good english, friendly enough, knowledgable about Dubai, and most important of all strikes a good chemistry plus of course driving an MPV to fit the 5 of us.

So we did just that for the tour of Jumeirah area. Mohamed, our driver was from Lahore, Pakistan and married to a beautiful lady who is pursuing her MBA in Pakistan. (he showed us her picture). He must be missing her dearly. Dont be surprised if taxi drivers showed pics of their luv ones, thats part of life. In this Arab nation, Pakistanis, Indians and Asians mostly from the Philippines make up the labour landscape. They are missing their luv ones. Mohamed told us he went back 3 times for the year already. Luv bug! Well...... love calls for sacrifices.

Back to our adventure for the day. We spent time in Jumeirah area, went to the Jumeirah beach, the famous and beautiful Jumeirah mosque, the Wild Wadi water theme Park, the 7 star Burj Arab (ok next time we sleep there honey...lol), the east and west side of the The Palm Jumeirah, Atlantis, Souk Madinat, JBR Walk, the Marina, and last but not least to Jebel Ali where Ibn Battuta Mall is located.

Yes we had to pay for the Taxi's waiting and I occasionally looked at the meter to check on the damage. Cheap skate me huh? But in the end, all that 9am to 4pm sightseeing and visits meterred AED293. We spent most of our time at the Lost Chambers Atlantis (truly an amazing feeling), Souk Madinat (had lunch by the lakeside with the view of Burj Al Arab and of course the burger there did'nt come cheap at AED55 each....Ooouch) and Ibn Battuta Mall (walking our way through several continents in the Mall). Yes you will not regret going to these 3 places and those in between.

It was sure one heck of a day.
