18th October 2007 - Day 129
After a restless night in the hammocks, it was up early for breakfast and then out onto the water again for a 2 hour ride up the river to start our walk to the falls. The views were again spectacular with table mountains all around and it was a brilliant trip as we got soaked going through the rapids. We were hoping the Germans on the boat would get soaked as they definitely weren't fans of the water, however they managed to avoid a drenching. Boo.
We arrived at the camp to start the walk and got some more good snaps and a long range view of the falls which looked spectacular. We set off on the hour long walk through the jungle/rain forest which again provided us with some super views. We reached the lookout point which offered us some awesome views of the falls and the weather had been very kind to us as it was a baking hot day. Thankfully the water level was not too high so we got the chance to go for a swim in the laguna at the base of the falls.
We walked up to the laguna and dived in to the ice cold water which was great. The small waterfall that went into the laguna was pretty powerful so we all took turns trying to get as far under as possible before getting pummelled out into the laguna. We spent a great hour there and bagged ourselves some fantastic photos before stting back off to the boat and lunch.
After lunch we took the hour long ride back down through the rapids which was good fun as we again got soaked. Back at camp we had some rest time where we kicked a ball around and chilled out. After that, we had dinner and chatted before hitting the hammocks again.
