So, after an overnight stay in Georgetown, Washington DC, we head off on a train ride down to Virginia Beach to hang out with our good friend Andrea. The train was an early one, heading off at 7.30am but we got into VB at 1.30pm and the weather was fantastic. After meeting up with Dre for lunch, the four of us then had a few afternoon beverages as Dre sacked off her coaching for the afternoon and we got to participate in our favourite sport of people watching/whale watching.
After going out for some delicious seafood we then carried on with the drinking and generally catching up with Dre. There were a lot of coaches out that night from all over the states as there was a tournament going on in VB all week as we met most of the USA's womens team and whilst they may be good for hockey, they were defiantely not the most attractive bunch of ladies
Day 16 -June 26th 2007
The second day was a late start for many people as they were nursing hangover, however Carly and I were up early doors and head to the beach. Most people, as well as nursing hangovers were also suffering from a lack of sleep after Homero had done his best Eeyore impression during the night with some hardcore snoring!
After a swim and some beach time, we met up with Homero and headed out to hire a pedal car. We managed an hour of cycling on the boardwalk before we were all knackered (well, not Carly to be fair who resorted to getting out and pushing me and Homer!). We (Homero and I) then decided we had earned a beer so headed to the bar where we were pleased to discover it was happy 3 hours. We were especially pleased when the heavens opened and we were stuck in a 2 hour torrential downpour - still, there are worse places to be stuck!
That evening we headed to a bar on the boardwalk, Mahi Mah's for cocktails and sushi whilst listening to a live band watching the sunset. It must have inspired us as we ended up in a bar doing karaoke with lots of stupid American Hicks on their 'summer vacation'
Day 17 - June 27th 2007
The third day saw us all making an earlier start to the day as Dre was away coaching. We again payed a trip to the beach and did some swimming before an afternoon of crazy golf in the blistering heat. We then headed out for another seafood dinner before watching the Copa America game in a bar serving Blue Moon with a slice of orange for $2 - happy days. Although it was not long before Carly encoutered the repercussions of the food and was heading to the 'restrooms'. We meet up with the rest of the group that evening and they are all wasted as they are celebrating the end of the tournament.
Day 18 - June 28th 2007
DAY FROM HELL!! So, after the previous nights bender and drunken antics on return, there are some very sore heads this morning and we have a long drive ahead. The proposed early start does not materialise and after 11 hours of sitting in a car loaded to capacity with people and bags, we finally make it to Cherry Hill, New Jersey, just outside Philadelphia. Here we have just over a week of chilling out before our next camp begins.
