We travelled from the Bush camp in Spitzkoppe via Cape Cross to see the Seal Colony.  Literally there were hundreds, if not thousands of them. They make a noise like sheep and they stink, like ammonia.  They are good to watch as some of them were asleep with the heads tilted right back.

I'm now in Swakopmund, the adrenaline city of Namibia. It has certainly lived up to it's name.  We arrived on Monday after our bush camp and it was a real luxury to have our own bungalows. There are 6 of us sharing. To have a bed for the night and a bathroom is soooo good!  I booked to go Sand Boarding, Quad Biking and also a Tandem Skydiver (the big 3).

On the first night we went to a great seafood restaurant, The Lighthouse.  Unfortunately I was sat next to Eoin (one of the Irish guys) who also enjoys Savignon Blanc....say no more. A few of us ended up in a bar, dancing on tables etc.  It was a really fun night!

I had a 9.30am pick up......thankfully one of the guys came to get me otherwise I would have slept through and missed the sand boarding. It was excellent, I reached speeds of 68 kph just on a piece of board sliding down the dunes. There is a bit of a technique. I managed to do a full 360 turn and not fall off.  They said they hadn't seen that done before!!  It was hard work walking back up the dunes, but well worth it for the rush.

In the afternoon 5 of us went Quad Biking in the Namib Desert.  It's the best I've ever done.  Most of us had semi-automatic 250cc which went really well.  We did lots of good stuff, including going at maximum power straight up the side of the steep dunes and jumping off the top, so all 4 wheels are off the ground!  I went a bit off course at times which was not a good ideas as rather than a smooth ride up the side of the dune you hit a lip and go flying.  It was funny especially as the guys behind me followed my tracks instead of the instructors!!

Yesterday a few of the guys went fishing and managed to catch enough fish for us all to have a BBQ at one of the bungalows. It was really good.  I've also got a CD of the sand boarding which I can share online, when I figure out how.

I've finally managed to upload some photos although it has taken me 3 hours so far...as the connection is so slow.  It's our last night out here, as the food is so cheap I'm sure we'll be off to a fish restaurant. I might even be decadent and have Lobster....as my nose looks like one from the wind burn and sun!!
