For the last two weeks I've been working in a town called Westport in Connecticut. Connecticut is the state just north of New York. I've been told that it is the richest state in New York (being the highest average wealth per capita), and they love to show it! One of the great perks of the job is I do not have to pay a cent while I'm here. For lunch and dinner we go to the best restaurants in Westport. At lunch the restaurants are full of plastic-looking women "doing lunch", talking about their latest boob job and facelift (ok, they might not be talking about it). We are usually the only males in the restaurants.

Since you all know me, if it's free, I'm damn well going to make the most of it. I have never eaten so much since I've been here. We have 3 course meals for dinner and usually just 2 courses for lunch. I must say I have never bought sushi for AUD$24 before, but we all have it because we can. The food is just so great, but I'm either going to have to stop eating so much or buy some more pants. I think I'll go for the later option.

Unfortunately I have to work very long hours here; more than 60 billable hours in a week. But hey, someone has to pay for this lifestyle I'm currently living. We get very spoilt.

On the weekend I return to my more modest lifestyle in New York. I was back onto the tourist attractions. Saturday (3rd February) it was such a clear day that Ronak, Lisa and I decided to go to the Empire State Building. We went to the 86th floor. It was so awesome from up there as the views were absolutely magnificent. We stepped outside and the wind was so strong we could hardly stand up, and it was soooo cold it penetrated right through our clothing. We decided to go up to level 102 which we had to pay more. It probably wasn't worth the extra money, but at least I can say I went to the very, very top of the building. To get to the 102nd floor we had to go up in a little rickety elevator from the 86th floor. The 102nd floor is actually within the spike on top of the Empire State Building so it's not really a floor that anyone can actually use as an office. Ronak and I then decided to head for SOHO to do some shopping. Again, like most of the island, there were so many nice shops there.

That night we went to McFaddens, where you pay a $15 cover charge and get 2 hours of free drinks. Did I mention what I'm like with free things (see 2nd paragraph). Needless to say it was yet another huge night.

The following day I went with Zee and Yousef to the Natural History Musuem. I think this probably the best museum I have ever seen. I loved the parts devoted to the different human civilizations, such as the Aztecs, the different African tribes and Asian civilizations. The dinosaur exhibit was also great and took up almost an entire floor. I definitely recommend going to this if you are ever in New York.

On Thursday we finished work a little early and went up to the Mohegan Sun Casino in Connecticut. Unfortunately I didn't win any money, but I only ended up losing $40. A person I work with won USD$2000, all of which he won within the final 5 minutes. We went to Michael Jordan's Steak House for dinner at the casino. I had the best steak I have ever eaten, and it was huge. It was very expensive, so I was just glad I didn't have to pay.

Last Saturday (12th February), we went to a bar in SOHO that had a charity event organized. They offered free drinks and all the tips went to children's cancer research. As if they needed to give me any more incentive to drink! Please note that I am not an alcoholic, well not yet anyway.

So that's been my time in brief over the past 2 weeks. I hope to write again fairly soon but I've been fairly busy.
