After much needed sleep I got the metro to Famagusta where I had planned to autostop to Marseille, though after having left the home at 1pm I came to realise the impossibility of this notion. I had spent a couple of hours in vain trying to get a ride out of Milan before deciding I had to move through a more reliable means, I decided I would continue to stand there indefinately if I didnt admit defeat. I belatedly left Famagusta and got the train to Milano Centrale where I bought a ticket to Torino for 9.5 EUR. Prior to leaving the house I had made a couple of emergency reservations at some CS hosts in Torino and Genova, which came in handy. I got on the wrong train on purpose, it was the Eurostar Express going to Torino but my plan almost turned out disastrously as after 10mins on the train I was asked to present my ticket, and told that I was to pay an additional 18 EUR for this train. After a brief and by no means hostile discussion with the conductor I was permitted to exit the train at the next station without having to pay. Fortunately a Regionale train was waiting for me and got me to Torino by 9pm. I met my CS host at his place and we had Pizza before going to bed reasonably early. I had to get to Montpellier the next day!
