Today i think i will go mushroom picking in the forests and byways on Vidö. i am looking for low damp areas and the prized kanterelle, a smallish funnel shaped mushroom orange in color with wide gills under the cap. the good thing about kantereller is that if you find one, you are sure to find a bunch more in the area and there is no other mushroom that looks like it so there is little chance of confusing it with something poisinous. i have been studying svampboken to help me with identification but i am not yet confident in my skills to pick anything else. perhaps if i find a nice batch i will fry them up with butter for lunch.
