Flag of Canada  , Prince Edward Island,
Saturday, July 14, 2007

Leaving Moncton this morning we crossed the Confederation Bridge which connects the provinces of New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. Its eight mile span is the longest bridge over ice covered waters in the world and is considered one of the *Seven Wonders* of Canada.

We only have two days here so we decided to take in as much as we could on the way to today's destination of the city of Cavendish, home of the author of the Anne of Green Gables books.

We headed up the western tip of the island towards North Cape, the northernmost tip of PEI to see the lighthouse and the giant windmills, which turned out to be the same type of windmill farms we have in California near Palm Springs!...not the Dutch kind. Oh well, the drive was breathtaking anyway.

We headed south, passing many small coastal towns and villages stopping here and there to take photos and ooh and ahh.  I can't describe just how beautiful this place is...rolling hills and valleys, lakes, ponds, rivers and the ocean seems to be within easy sight at all times.

We arrived in Cavendish a bit before dark...found our B&B, Kindred Spirits,
which happens to be on Memory Lane, checked in, explored a bit then headed off to St. Annes Church for a much anticipated lobster supper which turned out to be a dud due to rather chewy lobster which were not really in season at this late date.

For many reasons I won't go into here, I would advise choosing another lobster supper provider though in all fairness I truly believe that on any given day one can have a bad experience at a supposedly wonderful place.  It's been a long day and we're headed back to Kindred Spirits for more much needed rest.
