So far we have met so many great folks. At the iSite (a national information center), we met Tom and Dorothy, jovial, retired camper-van enthusiasts with a load of great travel spot ideas. Easter Monday, we passed through Whangerei, one of the largest towns in Northland and bedded down in Tutukaka (pronounced just as it's spelled). There we met a lovely couple, Darryl and Nicola from Aukland, on holiday. Shared some beers and local seafood with them at the Marina. Vaughn discovered ducks and NZ leaves. Tuesday, on the advice of Darryl and Nicola, we headed up to Pahia and took the ferry over to the quaint little town of Russell. That afternoon we met up with our new friends at the Mako pub in Pahia.
Love Northland so far, very tropical and laid back. And yes, still up at dawn and asleep by 6 or 7 pm...
