Alrighty so this is day 1.  Big deal!  I wasn't gonna start this blog until I got to Europe but so much happened today I just had to add it.
So I got to the airport today and went through security like normal right, the moment I got through security and wasn't being herded around by airport staff, I got lost.  Quick fix though, it wasn't that bad.  I found the right way and had to go up a story then down a story.  I was the only person to take the stair up, everyone else did the escalator.  Cool me though, I just thought of that youtube video of piano stairs (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Huqiv-H_YuE), and sang some scales in my mind.  Then on the next flight of stairs, two people who had taken the escalator up decided to use the stairs also.  Yay me for being a trend setter.
After the stair excitement I had tram excitement,  the English was broken.  Everything was in Japanese.  I didn't get lost though, I actually managed to get off at the right gate.  Yay me (number two) for secretly knowing Japanese.
Once I had taken the tram, stairs, and more stairs, I got to my gate with 45 minutes to spare.  The airport was cooking hot in this particular building.  Nastily, I was sweating, and I never sweat.  Eww.  I went to the bathroom to primp a little and was in the process of dabbing my nose when I noticed a lady staring at me.  I smiled and she smiled back.  I commented on how hot it was and she smiled back.  I joked about looking good for my flight and she smiled back.  I swear she thought I was insane.  Well I thought the lady left but no, when I was done I walked out past the little sitting room and the was the lady, putting on makeup.  She saw me, I smiled she didn't smile back, I left.  Please take a moment here to send me air smiles since I didn't get one from the weird airport lady.
And moving on.  At this point Katie, my roommate, texts me and we start up a little conversation.  I'm very thankful for this because it was a time waster and right after I sent, "I hate sitting in the airport, it's the most boring thing ever" (this is after about 10 minutes of actually sitting in the airport, sad I know)  my plane started loading.  So thank you to text message coinkidinc.
I spent the next five hours sitting between a nerdy Frodo named Phil, though he never actually told me so himself, and a lady who made me think of a zebra and J.R. Crawford.  Neither of the wanted to talk so I wrote 6 thank you letters and read 50 pages of Vixen 03.  I feel very accomplished in doing so since the entire time i either had a runny nose, a cough that sounded like I was hacking out a lung, or a crazy sinus headache.  The one thing Zebra Crawford said to me as we left was, "you sound horrible, I hope you feel better".  Thanks, I think.
The highlight of my flight definitely came after that though.  I overheard the lady in front of me tell someone that her son, sitting next to her, is going to be a sea aggie.  They are from Seattle.  I am not the only Washingtonian going to TAMUG.  Major small world moment especially since only about 14% of the students at my school are from out of state.
Getting to the hotel was pretty uneventful, except that I yet again almost got lost trying to find the hotel shuttle.  stepping outside was killer!  At 7pm it was 90 degrees here.  Why?  Katie then politely laughed at me and told me to wait for the 100 degrees from noon to 4pm, all via text of course.  Definitely am not looking forward to tomorrow.  It is supposed to get stormy though, crossing my fingers.
Getting to the hotel now.  It is really nice, with a field out back.  The exciting part about the field is that there are sculptures of a giraffe, elephant, and a couple other things I can't remember.  So cute.  After looking at the animals I went to my hotel room and was surprised to get a suite.  Never had a suite like this before, it is awesome.  I have a kitchen, sitting area, king size bed, giant shower, and jacuzzi.  Heaven for sure.
I'm going to go enjoy my heaven now, goodnight Vashon

Texas slang of the day
Texmex: Mexican food Texas style.  It is where Katie wants to take me for dinner on Thursday, yum.
