This place is absolutely crazy. Took a 6 hour bus trip South through the mountains. Dramamined my myself again which was a great idea. The town is fairly tiny, next to the Mekong river. STriking green mountains with beautiful limestone(?) But the thing to do here is to go tubing. Apparently this is great fun and everyone does it. Bars along the river throw you a rope and you have a beer at each one. I skipped this as I figured that I could get drunk at home and go tubing in Wisconsin, especially after seeing a drunk girl running down the street acting all sorts of crazy. So I rented a bike and saw some caves and swam in a lagoon.
The craziest most bizarre part about this place is that every restaurant is playing episodes of Friends. Morning, noon and night. Also one can order "space" pizzas. Hallucinagenic mushrooms I assume and trip out to Friends and then go tubing. Who decided Friends? reaally. A few restaurants were playing the Family guy which I found to be equally strange.
This place is beautiful and has tons of outdoor activities ie rockclimbing etc but I found the place to be rather creepy. Also my room had a beautiful view of the river and the mountains in the distance, but was also accross from a crazy rave/dance party every night.
I also had the best spicy tofu soup and spring rolls of my entire life I didn't hate this place but it was maybe the weirdest place I've been so far. I really just want someone to explain the never ending Friends episodes . . .
