Today marked our last day in Prague.  The morning was free for everyone to spend their time as they choose.  I used the morning to go visit the Montessori school here in Prague that is hosting a teacher training course.  It was very nice to meet and visit with the course Trainer and the administrator of the school.   Martha took Stephanie over to the Charles Bridge and they scouted out the John Lennon tribute wall.  Lupita and Christina did some shopping.  Mary roamed around the old town square.  Jose took his laundry to the laundromat.

Then this afternoon, we boarded a large van (Mercedes) and departed from Prague.  This time we were on the road to Krakow Poland.  It is about a 6 hour drive. We had a nice young Polish driver - although he did like to drive fast. The country side we drove through was really quite beautiful. Green, rolling hills.  Wooded areas interspersed with agricultural lands. Small towns featuring red-roofed houses and beautiful churches.  It was a scenic drive.

One highlight along the way, we passed through Wadowice, Poland - a small, picturesque town that was the birthplace of Pope John Paul II.  I am attaching a photo of the church where he was baptized.

Then it was on to Krakow.  Krakow is a large, industrial city.  The air is hazy.  We are staying in a hotel which is not far from the Market Square, which is the historical square of the city.  Tonight was once again 'on your own' and so I hijacked my husband all for myself. The two of us walked through the square - which was a happening place to be! Lots of people, lots of roaming entertainers.  It was a very nice evening out. Tomorrow we will have an official tour of the square.
