Today the plan was to spend the day at the Mandalay beach, but I couldn’t get out of bed.  We went out at about 2 after having showers and found some food.  We had to be at the NKOTBSB VIP at 3:45.  We also printed out our confirmations for the after party.  We thought we would have to go to Planet Hollywood to collect our tickets, but we rang them and we didn’t have to.  SO we bought a salad each and then went to line up for the VIP.  We stood around for quite a while, and finally went in.  The sound check was short, they only did 2 songs, and even though they asked what people wanted to hear, they did songs that they had chosen before, that were in the show.  Then there was time for one question per Backstreet Boy.  Nick insulted NSYNC when he was asked if they would ever tour with them….he said that NKOTBSB was a group that they had formed and that it was very special, and he didn’t think NSYNC deserved it. After the Q n A, we had our photo taken with them.  I shook hands with each one down the line….Howie firsts, who I now adore.  Then AJ, then Nick who seemed to have a cold.  When I was standing by Nick the girls in front of me were in the way so Brian held is and out to me so I could shake it.  I asked how he was doing and he said ‘great’.  After the photo I said thanks to them and we left.

We bought T-shirts outside the arena, and then ha an hour and a half to wait until the show.  We went to take our stuff up to our room.  I got tired and fell asleep on Katie’s bed, and in the process I spilled my Gatorade all over the bed sheets leaving bright red stains.  Oooops.  I rang the front desk and they sent up housekeeping.  Luckily they didn’t seem to mind.

We went back down for the show, and while we were outside we heard the first song start!  We thought they weren’t on until half 8, but we must have been wrong.  We rushed in, in the dark and found 2 seats that we thought must be ours.  I t turns out they weren’t, but 2 more girls came in, and assumed that the empty seats were theirs, so all worked out well.  The show was great.

After the show we had our after party at the Gallery nightclub in Planet Hollywood.  We walked to it, down the excitement of the strip.  I saw a couple of camera shops and asked about the prices of cameras because I need to get a new one.  They are more expensive than LA…. typical!   When we got to the Gallery we got in fine, bought a $20 Cosmo and stood around.  These night-clubs have nowhere to sit down unless you BUY a table…which I though coast about $500.  I asked a bouncer an he said he could do us a deal where we buy $100 of drinks and get a table.  We decided it wasn’t worth it.  It would be good if there were a few of us.  I wonder if the point is to ask other people if you can sit with them…like guys.  If you are buying drinks for yourself then that would help them reach their minimum spend for their table…..so I guess it would help them out.  So maybe that’s the norm in clubs like that??  Anyway, after a while we spotted Justin, the BSB’s photographer/events planer or whatever he actually does.  He was in front of the dj booth, in a roped off area.  Soon after that, Nick and Howie appeared.  So there we were in the same nightclub as Nick Carter.  Everyone stopped caring after a while and that’s when it became cool.  He was just there.  He even sang two songs from his new album: - ‘So Far Away’ and ‘Just One Kiss’.  He did club remixes of them both.  It was amazing to see the guys in their getting their grove on to Nick Carter’s music.  It doesn’t seem to be half as uncool to like BSB in the USA as it is in the UK.  Over here they are still very big….and it seems more acceptable to like them.

After a while Nick disappeared, and we were tired so we walked back to the hotel.  I wanted to spend the day enjoying the Mandalay Bay Beach, which is meant to have one of the best pool resort areas in the US.  So with that in mind, I’m going to sleep.  Night night.
