Today we went to Disney World!  Magic Kingdom…it really is the happiest place on earth.  We didn’t know how to get to the maple leaf ticket office to pick up our tickets, so we asked at reception.  The guy asked if we could cancel them because without a car it would cost us $60 to get there and back.  He said they would match the price we paid if we got our tickets from them instead. So I rang maple leaf and they said that to cancel our tickets I just had to email them, and they would refund it with a 3% fee, which works out at $14, much cheaper than $60!  So we did just that.  We got our tickets at a cheaper rate, and didn’t even have to go anywhere to pick them up!  The next step was to figure out how to get to Disney…we understood that we should take the I-Ride shuttle to stop 29 and switch to the 111 bus, which, by the way, was the number of our re-boarding pass on the Greyhound, AND the number of the room we are staying in. As we were waiting for the 111, a shuttle pulled up and asked if we were going to Disney.  He took us there for $2 each.

We got the monorail to Magic Kingdom from the transportation hub.  I was excited.  As we stepped into Mainstreet USA I got pretty snap-happy with my camera.  We walked into Adventure Land and went up the Swiss Family Robinson Tree House, which I had totally forgotten about until I saw it….I remember going in that when I was 9!  That was amazing…I want to live in a tree house like that!  Then we saw an amazing little pirate show with the BEST Jack Sparrow ever.  It could have been Johnny Depp, his looks, his movements, his voice were all perfect!  This was the lead up to the Pirates of the Caribbean ride, which I remember from before, but it has been re-themed to have characters from the movie. In Frontier Land we went on Splash Mountain and Big Thunder Mountain, which were both great!  We got soaked on Splash Mountain, we were at the front. We went to Tom Sawyer Island as well, which was a similar kind of thing.  You have to take a raft.  Then we went on the riverboat and saw a guy in a plane writing messages in the sky.  There was also a Native American reservation (not a real one) that you could see from the boat, which I loved.

After the most amazing chocolate fudge brownie sundae ever at Mrs Potts’ Cupboard, we walked around Fantasy Land and came to Mickeys Toon Town, where we visited his house, and then we met him!  I LOVE Mickey!  I got a photo with him too.  We walked around into Tomorrow Land and went on Space Mountain and this other little train that just takes you around Tomorrow Land.  As a final ride treat…Kate decided to take me on It’s a Small World After All.  I will get her back one day….

We took the Disney Railroad back to Mainstreet USA and found a place to eat in Liberty Square.  We eat a couple of hours before ‘Wishes’ so that we would find a good viewing spot in front of the castle.  There was actually a parade first, which we didn’t know.  It was Disney’s Electric parade, which was a bit like the one I remember from last time I came.   And then finally it was time for Wishes.  I had seen it so many times on youtube.  Watching the real thing was amazing.  I loved it….that’s all I can say.  And for the perfect end to a great day, we got the ferryboat back across the lake.  We went strait to bed when we got back.  I was knackered, but quite content.
