From Steve: Nice easy day today to let our feet and legs catch up. Wandered around the local shops, lunch and dinner at the apartment, managed to get the washing machine to work which was pretty tricky as the landlord said it was broken and all of the instructions are in Italian. First time we have seen some clouds in the sky as well.
Steve's word of the day: Relaxing
From Alison: Ciao! This morning we had a sleep in and then decided to catch up the travel blog. Becky and I headed down to the market at Campo de Fiori to purchase some goodies for dinner tonight. While there, we decided to buy some extra goodies for lunch as well being that it was almost lunchtime. We made almost every transaction in Italian - you would be proud of us Signora Cardillo! We bought tomatoes and mushrooms from the fruiterer, prosciutto from the deli stall lady, olive oil from another man, cheese from another and finally called into the baker on the corner for some bread. Every day we have walked past and smelled his bread, so I couldn't resist buying some.
For lunch we had prosciutto, cheese, bread with oil and grapes and strawberries (left over from our picnic). Tonight I cooked omletes for dinner with prosciutto, tomatoes and mushrooms, with some sage from our rooftop terrace garden - unfortunately when we went to pick the chives they were a bit woody.
We had a lovely stroll around the laneways this afternoon - Becky bought a top, and Steve some pants and a jumper. Gelati for afternoon tea - mine was strawberry and pineapple - yum! This evening we went for another stroll - around the laneways around Piazza Navora. We found some fantastic antique shops - all closed unfortunately - we'll just have to go back tomorrow afternoon after the market.
Alison's word of the day: lovely!
From Becky: Ciao Peoples! Today was a free day, we stayed in the apartment for the morning and then strolled around in the evening. In the morning, Mum and I went to the market to buy some tomato's, mushrooms and some prosciutto for our tea, and some cheese and bread for our lunch - we ate some of the prosciutto for lunch too.
In the afternoon we walked aimlessly through laneways (and I bought a t-shirt!), it was nice just to stroll and not be in a hurry because our tour is about to start or something like that, and at the end of that I still (again) had sore feet (will my feet get over the fact that this is what they're going to do whether they like it or not?)
For tea we had omelettes with the items that we bought from Campo de Fiori and some herbs that I picked from the garden.
Becky's word of the day: Clothes!
From Sam: Today we stayed at the apartment through the morning. After a lunch of ham, spicy cheese, bread and milk we wandered around and went into a lot of clothing stores. For tea we had omelettes.
Sam's word of the day: Lazy
Note: All of the photos today are Alison's

I am very proud and impressed with your efforts at using your Italian. Rebecca will be under pressure when she returns to tell me what she asked for. As for the sore feet, I understand. When I went with the students a few years ago, one boy became an expert at saying "mi fanno male i piedi" ( my feet hurt) all the time. Sam, the pizza you keep having translates as "devil". Has it been really spicy? Keep having a great time, famiglia Cole!
