Hi again to all of you! Ok, we left Port Lincoln around 8.30am and decided to travel the inland way to Ceduna. It's a nice drive to see the agricultural side of South Australia with all the grain growing, harvesting and road trains carting along the route. We reach Ceduna and call into the info centre to find out about the Nullarbor Links golf course. It is the longest golf course in the world and stretches from SA through to WA. It is made up of holes at roadhouses, camps, and real courses and is meant to be a lot of fun. I have been given a couple of clubs from our neighbours at Adelaide shores and have a 1 iron, 7 iron, lob wedge but no putter. Doesn’t matter it will be ok and we will use the edge of one of the clubs. Anyway the bloke at the info centre said its $60 to play it and Stewie being the scammer thinks he will get away with not paying as he doesn’t want to play all the holes. Back at camp for tea and its windy again so early night and then up early next morning. We leave Ceduna and it’s still windy but luck for us it is a tailwind. The trip is not as Stewie imagined, it is not boring at all and we stop at every spot to have a look at the cliffs facing the Southern Ocean as they are special. We reach Border village quarantine and they check us through the van and car and we are on our way to Eucla. We decide to get a room for the night as it has been 7 months on the road. We are now on Central west time and the clocks go back 1 ¾ hrs so instead of it being 5.00pm SA time it is 3.15 here, but just down the road it goes back another ¾ hr to Perth time. Bloody hard to figure out for Stewie. It’s hard to sleep so we are up early and on the way again. Stewie has played a couple of holes and hasn’t paid yet (he’s pleased with himself) and plays a great par three at Dingo Den while we have a coffee break. We all have a hit around some of the holes and it’s a lot of fun as you hit off plastic bottle tops because the ground is too hard for a tee and that’s if you find the ball in the tussocks. The greens are artificial grass but hard to putt on. We play a couple more holes as we travel along and have some laughs too. Along the road we start to see some funny things placed on trees by travellers. We find shoes, clothes, bottles, life jackets, soft toys, hats, cups, kettles, undies, and even a Santa tree. At one of the par 4 holes, we play the hole and come across a black whip snake on the way back. They are venomous and Stewie shows his true colours and runs for the hills. We stop at the Caiguna Blow hole and are impressed at the wind coming through from the cliffs a long way away. We then set off on Australia’s longest stretch of straight road, 146.6klms. You don’t see a bend all the way and it gets a little boring there. To break the monotony we stop and the boys’ have a Ripsik down the highway and we get pics to prove it. We stop at Fraser Range for the night at a working sheep station and play a hole called "Sheep’s Back" whilst we are there. We are up early as it is light around 5am and no daylight savings in WA. We continue right through to Norseman for a cuppa and then on to Kalgoorlie for a few days break and sightseeing. Julie has some things she wants to see around here (a ghost town is on the list) and Stewie has distant family ties to here as well on his Mums side. So join us next time for another Aussie Stewie’s adventure.
