After a lovely holiday from the holiday in Melbourne, I'm back in Europe, this time in Oslo, Norway. I've fallen in love with Oslo, but maybe that is because the weather has been so nice. It's actually hot here! And is is only dark for a couple of hours each day, which is wreaking havoc with my body clock which was already suffering, having travelled all the way from Australia a couple of days ago. Oslo is a quiet, clean city, with trams that actually work.
So far it's been too beautiful to visit the Munch museum and national gallery, so I took the ferry out to the Bygdoy peninsula near Oslo, where there is the Viking museum and the Folk museum. The Viking museum had remarkably well preserved Viking ships which had been used as tombs, and had a lot of artefacts inside, but the real highlight was the folk museum. I spent my afternoon wandering around the various exhibits and enjoying the sunshine. In the evening I visited Frongerparken, which was lovely, and had some amazing sculptures in it. Unfortunately I must have taken too many photos, and the camera died, so I might stay in Oslo for a couple of extra days until it gets fixed.
