Arriving in Athens I met up with my Australian friends Gemma and Subana who were a bit weary of sightseeing after a whirlwind bus trip around Europe. From here we headed out to Ios island. We spent our days relaxing by the pool at the Far Out beach club, occasionally getting up to waddle over to the restaurant for some food or cocktails, then hitting the town for some dancing at night. We even got offered jobs at the bar!

We then travelled on to Santorini, which is exceptionally beautiful. The island roughly forms a circle of high cliffs surrounding the "caldera", a sea-filled crater that was once a volcano (until it exploded about 700BC). We drove around the island one the "ATV" (all terrain vehicle), and managed to fit three of us on it to drive up to the perfect little whitewashed town of Oia to watch the sunset. Well,it was perfect until we ran out of petrol in the dark...

After the girls left for Turkey I headed to Paros. I have found myself a very dodgy scooter (but I can't complain at 5 euro a day...), and have been riding from beach to beach around the island. I also headed over to Antiparos island, where I visited a big limestone cave full of stalegtites and stalegmites, that extends 100 metres underround! It was nice and cool inside. I must have been away from home for too long, because Paros reminds me of Australia in the summertime, smelling all hot and dry, with eucalyptus trees everywhere. Luckily, after a few days on Naxos, I will be making a quick visit home to Australia (not that 24 hours on the plane each way is all that quick...)
