It was definitely worth waiting for the nice weather to visit Venice. I was expecting to be disappointed this time as I had loved Venice so much last time I was in Italy. But the weather was lovely (high 20's and sunny), and, though crowded in parts, it is easy to find quiet areas. And there is so much to see!
I rode the vaporettos (ferries), visited the rialto bridge, the produce market, St Mark's cathedral and climbed the belltower for a good view over Venice. I went out to the island of Murano where they make colourful glass and had a lovely meal watching the sun set over the lagoon. On Sunday I visited the Academia (art gallery) and Guggenheim collection (modern art), then decided the weather was too nice to be indoors, and spent the afternoon wandering around the less touristy neighbourhoods.

I'm back in Florence again, with less than two weeks until I finish Italian classes. I can hold a very basic conversation, but have found the grammar a little confusing. I'm looking forward to heading to Sicily next week, then on to Croatia and Greece, before a brief trip back to Australia at the start of July.
