CLasses have started at the Leonardo school. Lessons are going well and I feel that we are learning quite quickly. I get to sleep in as lessons don't start til 9am, and the school is only a 10 minute walk from the apartment. I stop off for a coffee and pastry on the way (I have never really been a pastry person, but these are excellent). We start the lessons with 2 hours of grammar, and by the end my brain is hurting! After that we have a couple of hours of conversation class, which is a bit more kind to my brain. There are twelve in the class (2 British, 1 American, 2 Germans, 2 Dutch, a French Canadian, a Japanese, A Swede, a Mexican and me), and there is a good spread of ages.
It is quite strange to be in a classroom again, and to do homework(it would have been at least 5 years since I did homework!).

Nothing much else to report. I will start the painting classes again next week. The apartment is going well, and the girls have gone out of their way to be welcoming to me. The weather is starting to warm up (finally!). I have enjoyed going to the market and pottering around in the kitchen with the produce I have bought. I spent this weekend wandering around Florence (see photos), and particularly enjoyed the church and cemetery of San Miniato al Monte, which has stunning views across the city. Am still building up the courage to tackle the crowds and visit the Ufizzi. Am considering buying a bicycle (80 euros, and it would be easy to sell to another student when I leave) to ride a bit further afield. I think my next trip will be to Bologna, maybe next weekend with my housemate Adele.
