Day 5 Wednesday 22/09 Hubbard Glacier

Morning miserable weather again. Who cares, glacier day today.

Enter Yakutat Bay (sp?) after lunch.  Serenade of the Seas leaving as we go in.  Glaciers come into view mid-afternoon.  Wet and very windy.  Constantly wiping water off camera lenses.  Then we get to end of bay between glaciers and the wind stops and just occasional light drizzle.  Miraculous.  Michael arrives in his custom mink coat – hilarious.  Some English people very excited to finally take a picture of a bear.  Surely they don't realise how funny that comment is?

Decided to leave the crowds up on the top decks and sought the shelter and 'warmth’ of the boat deck (deck 4).  Very few people down there, they’re all up top.  Ship spun around on its length to give everyone sat on their balconies a look at the glaciers.

Head back up to top and crowd has thinned dramatically.  The crowds have retired inside as it’s VERY VERY cold.  Stood around with all the boys.  The sound of the glacier calving quite amazing.  I think we were all a bit overcome by the sheer scale of the place.

Sushi with girls tonight after drink on their balcony.  They’re in a ‘deluxe’.  Same size as M & J’s concierge class but no flowers, nightly canapés or their different coloured towels each day (!!).

Sushi was ok but not much variety.  Nice to have a break from the animals. Went to show but no idea what it was.  Bound to be good though J
