Day 14 Pattaya Feb 25
I wake up feeling like crap, looking like crap but luckily only smelling like alcohol. We make brekkie just before it was due to be put away. I convince Al to have the rice porridge. Mmmm. Yummy. I have delicious scrambled eggs.
Tidy up, check out and down to the beach. We hire two chairs for peanuts and I hide under the umbrella and my hat. Al lols around in the warm waters of the Gulf of Thailand. I have one short paddle but am constantly worried I'm going to feed the finish at any time so go back under the protection of the beach umbrella. Constant stream of hawkers offering food, drink, clothes, and our favourite - while I was in the water Al was offered an assortment of lotions and potions, the best being something that would make his banana big and last a long time. I thought they used gas to make bananas last longer?
I'd got to a point where the ship was my only hope of feeling better so we got a cab back to the port. Initial price US$20. We laughed, I asked baht? He says 1000. I laughed again and said airport is only 1000 and it's hour and a half away and port 30 mins. He asks how much. We have a 500 note so I say 500, he says 700, I say 500 and he says ok. Most likely could have got it for 300. Cab was cool and clean and he took us right to the ship.
Was glad to be back onboard. Had about 50 glasses of water. Sat out on deck and watched last few stragglers come back onboard. We think we two were left behind and two did come onboard while we were coming off the next morning in Cambodia so think that was true. Bloody idiots. Ship was due to sail at 5 but we didn't push away until about 6.
Forgot we had half a bottle left and Donald poured it as soon as we sat down. I couldn't even look at it but we eventually managed to sip it down through a three course meal.
Instead of being last out, our table was first as we had big day with very early start next morning. Rommel was shocked, couldn't even say "nice to see you leave", his usual goodbye.
