Our arrival from the 4WD trip into Uyuni left us feeling quite knackered, plus the lack of any shower over the preceding days left us smelly too. A good hotel was called for, and we got it in the form of Hotel Tonito, recommended by our guide book, and a former stopping point for my brother Uttam, when he visited this region back in 2007. The hotel was a bit luxurious for Uyuni, and we immediately got ourselves a nice shower and a long snooze.
Uyuni itself was a ghost town on the Sunday (day of rest of course!); but having been here before, it usually teems with markets selling all manner of things. Closer exploration revealed that some of these were still open. We weren´t too interested in spending too much time here; it really is only a staging point for trips to the Salar, so we made plans to go upto La Paz, with the intent of making our way north to Cusco a little faster (as there´s a lot to do around there) and increase our travel options around the La Paz region.
