Tunisia

I realized I didn't give you guys a map and flag for my stop in this really neat place so here they are. Better late than never, right?  I also wanted to show you a picture of what you look for when you want to eat or drink during Ramadan in the daylight hours.  The tiny grocery stores are open of course and full of people but if you need something fast, hot and to go, you head behind the papered glass like I do to enjoy an illicit snack.  I am not even muslim but it still feels funny having food when the sun is up in an Islamic country since it's drilled into everyone here that nothing pleases Allah more than devoted fasting.

And I can also report that food tastes even better after sneaking around Allah's careful watch to get it.  I was walking down the street back to my hotel room this afternoon with a cheese and mushroom pizza ($1.50!!) and I know everyone was just wishing Ramadan away when they smelled it on the sidewalk.  Ah, to be American in a muslim country.  Sometimes we do have our perks.
