We drove on, and Alec takes up the story:
On the way to Alice Springs we saw some meteorite craters [Henbury Meteorite Craters]. There was one about half the size of the school and it was made by a meteorite the size of a washing machine. They came at 40,000 km per hour!!!! At the bottom of the craters there was mud and it was dry. There was sometimes water in the craters. I was surprised about the crater being made by a meteorite the size of a washing machine
At Henbury Craters, we went on a walk around the two biggest craters. One crater was quite a pretty one for it had trees down the bottom around the edges and it was shady and green. Sometimes there was water in the crater but we didn't see any water when we were there. There were rocks everywhere like the surface of the moon. I couldn’t believe we were actually on earth!!!!
The craters were a hit, as you can see.
