Christine has this theory that I am trying to do a number of things before I am forty and so to please her - despite my fear of water I got into an inflatable canoe with Richard and wandered for about 7 miles down the Guadaloupe River which runs at the end of Tom's house. Don't worry Kevin and Chris were in a canoe beside me and Tom and Carrie sailed down in tubes. Once I realised that the canoe was more stable than I had thought I actually enjoyed the trip down. The sun had brought out hundreds of other "boaters" and we spent the afternoon on Tom's riverbank chatting to the various groups as they passed us by.
Once again that evening we ate off the barbecue and enjoyed the warm Texan evening outdoors.
