It being Monday, many things were closed in Kassel...except the Brothers Grimm Museum, which was free since it was under construction. I know little about the Brothers Grimm and still know little. However, they had lots of stuff in there about Frau Holle...any takers? I do not know who she is.

On our way into a bakery, we were talking about how long one can hold a poop when a lady outside the bakery asked us,"Oh, British or American?" and we stopped and talked to her for a while. Her English was not very good, but I did find out she had epilepsy and once went to the US or had a relative that once or still did live there.

We also visited Wilhelmshöhe Park, which was well worth the free entry. Quite picturesque, and the weather was perfect. Schloss Löwenburg is located inside the park and may very well have been worth the entry fee but, again, it was a Monday. Looked swell from afar, anyway. The main reason we went to the park, though, was to climb to the top of the massive Herkules statue and look out over Kassel. The park is massive and we had a hard time finding the statue, walking up a massive hill until it came into view: under construction. Cripes.

On boarding the bus back to the hotel, which was the most American of all hotels in which I have ever stayed in a foreign country (in an industrial district, big, new-looking), I asked if it went to our area. Yes, yes, said the driver. Now pay up. We passed the industrial district right by ('twas dark and the stop was not in the same area) and the driver stopped and indicated to others to tell us it was our stop. The unhelpful/rude German stereotype was not seen on this trip and incidents like this show that.
