"This is going to sound awful, but it is how I am feeling...

Our host family wanted to go camping with us this weekend but we managed to decline because Yulia is still having troubles with her ears and didn't want them to get worse in the cold and it is suppose to snow again."

The first snow fall came Sept 8th. I couldn't believe it. I was totally prepared to snuggle into bed with a good book and wait until it disappeared, but I was sorely mistaken-- this was the beginning of winter in the North. Where I am from, (Vancouver) the city all but shuts down if it snows a foot, and it is guaranteed to completely disappear in 3 days or less. I hate the snow in the city, it belongs on mountain tops to make the skyline look pretty.

"They accepted our excuse, we stayed home, and they headed out Friday night. We were so excited to have the place to ourselves. We went shopping and I bought green vegtables and really grainy bread. I made fresh guacamole and we had chicken with asparagus in a spicy tomato sauce. Cedrick and Roma came over for dinner, and brought dessert and drinks-- we enjoyed ourselves and had a great meal.

We were so relaxed. Then, early this morning, bang! They were home. There weren't suppose to be home until sunday evening, it was a whole day early. Peace disrupted.

To make matters worse, Jo's in a terrible mood. She came down and demanded the phone, no hellos. Yulia thinks she is mad that we didn't go, and that we shouldn't tell her we went out last night, but I think something went wrong at the campsite and that is why she is annoyed.

Last night we tried out another local bar, Triples, at first they didn't want to let Yulia in on account of her ID, but they finally relented. Drinks were cheap, and although I had fewer than a couple weekends back, I have a much larger headache this morning.

I got a package yesterday from mom- volleyball kneepads, new pj pants, receipes, pictures, toys for the kids, candles for Jo and other little things, plus... a can of peppers!

I have looked all over GP in order to make Marcella's famous dish, to no avail, so mom sent me some.

Yeah! Real food!

It would have been so much nicer if they had stayed camping, I could have nuirsed this hangover so much better alone. Kids don't help headaches. This time it is not goodnight, but good morning as there is still the whole day to come."

It is a very interesting balancing act living in someone else's house, with their rules. Prior to this trip, I had lived on my own or with roommates, I hadn't really 'answered' to anyone for a couple years... it was a strange transition.
