Plan: Leaving WAY too early to enjoy anything more... other than the sites as they whiz by in the taxi.

Having not slept much past a few hours, the wakeup call came at 2am. The sheets beside me were still tucked in; I don't know how Ben managed without sleeping even a little bit.

Wael ended up staying in the lobby to wait for us, by the time our visit ended; there was no use in him traveling home only to be picked up again right when he got home.

We grabbed our bags for the last time, and headed down to the lobby for our last mini-tour before going to the airport for a flight that left way too early.

We detoured on our way to the airport to stop by the part of the city where President Sadat paraded victory, and was assassinated in October 1981. They have constructed a large memorial, and it was interesting in the context of a lot of the discussions we had with Wael, and his personal revere of the man.

We arrived at the airport faster than my liking, and just as when we arrived, we were swooped through the whole process with a little less than a blink of an eye. Before I knew it, we were standing at a escalator where Wael could not follow. I am an emotional person, and I hate good-byes, but we were lucky that this was a "see you later" rather than a "good-bye" as Wael is set to visit North America in the spring, and we will have a good chance of seeing him again.

All the same, a few tears escaped from me as we rode the escalator up-both for saying goodbye to new friends, and for the end of an adventure I enjoyed so much.
