Plan: Citadel of Kasr Ibrim-- sail to Abu Simbel and first chance to see the Temple in the evening.
Hotel: Aboard the cruise in Abu Simbel.
This morning, our last full day on the Kasr Ibrim, we drift past our boat's namesake, the ruins of Kasr (or Qasr) Ibrim. The interesting tidbit is that this fortress had not been reconstructed. They were originally built on high enough ground that the rising waters turned its perch into an island, but didn't threaten the structure itself. Unfortunately, you can't dock or wander around them... only appreciate them from afar. It is the only structure in the Nubian lands that are in their original location and weren't lost to the water.
