We made it. The disgusting, hair raising, hellish experience of getting here is over. The cliffs at night, constant stopping for other traffic and drunken pickups and dilapidated bus weren{t even so bad. It was the people. The people behind us putting their feet on our chairs and armrests, the guy ahead, with his crapping puppy, the annoying old lady sleeping in the isle and the guy in front of me vomiting out the window, made the trip particularly unpleasant. However there was some amazingly beautiful scenery and the most dazzling night sky I have ever seen.
When we arrived, we were accosted by a few well speaking tour agents, who we managed to dup for a free cab ride into town. They said the cab ride was free, if we listened to their spiel about the tour, but when we got there, the guy ran off. We ended up not staying at their hotel, because the manager was creepy and pushy and we are definitely not booking our tour with them. We ended up staying at the Hostal Turistico Santa Ana, a nice, but over priced place, with very uncomfortable beds. Not my ideal place, but at 5 in the morning, after a 15 hour bus ride, you don{t really care.
We managed to sleep a while and woke up and started trying to take care of some things. Everything seems to be close however, so we might have to spend another day in town. We found one brochure for a company called Enin, that seems pretty neat. They seem more into ecology and the rainforest then selling a tour. Not sure yet though, I can{t find much info on it. Indigena is also supposed to be good and we have a pamphlet for Bala which is recommended in the LP. We{ll figure it out.
