First of all, Julie and I look like a couple of lowlifes. Everyone here is done to the nines and here we are fresh off the boat from Vietnam in travel gear. We are an easy target of mass peppering from the many East Indians offering copy handbags, Rolex copies, and tailored suits to tourists. We have it down though, just pretend they aren't even there, it makes it easier. Back to the hotel in Kowloon for a shower and change, and down to the foot of the harbour to view the nightly light show and building illumination of Hong Kong Island.
The incredible amounts of skyscrapers and people here is surreal. All set in a mountain setting very much like Vancouver. Julie and I are in pretty much in a state of shock. The neon lit signs, the hussle and bustle, the mass amounts of British and Western food and fashion. I can see why they call this the Pearl of Asia.
Once again our time here is short, and we will try to fit in as much as possible while enjoying treats like Spaghetti and Starbucks coffee. We are finally back to high speed internet, although unable to locate USB ports.....we have so many pic's to share. Stay tuned.
We finally had our first official piss up on Saturday night. We started at 6PM and lasted till around 3 in the morning. We spent some time at a bar called insomnia that is open from 10 am to 8 am daily for some live music. As the saying goes, that leaves 2 hours for the insomniacs with nothing to do. We met some British expat's our age who took us to Mon Ami where we finished the night. Boy was Sunday rough. Long live Vodka and Red Bull!!!!!
The weather here is mild, and we are still able to walk around in short sleeve shirts. I've read that Beijing will be around 0-4 degrees and of course we have no coats.
Off to Beijing to walk The Great Wall!!!!
